Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha attended the India Pharma Expo 2026 as chief guest and highlighted Telangana’s role as a global pharmaceutical hub.
The event took place at HITEX Exhibition Center, where he visited pharma and allied company stalls. He also presented awards to top-performing organisations.
Later, he addressed industry leaders and stakeholders and outlined the state’s growth in the pharmaceutical sector.
India Pharma Expo 2026 underscores Telangana’s pharma strength
According to the minister, Telangana hosts over 1,500 pharma units producing APIs, bulk drugs, vaccines, and medical devices. In addition, the state has more than 80 testing centres and over 50,000 medical shops.
He said Telangana played a key role as a global supplier during the COVID-19 period. As a result, Hyderabad has emerged as a trusted centre for pharma and healthcare.
Moreover, he stressed that quality, safety, and transparency would remain priorities. He also warned that authorities would take strict action against fake and substandard drugs.
Meanwhile, the Drug Control Administration continues to monitor the sector closely. These measures aim to protect public health and maintain standards.
Finally, the minister said events like India Pharma Expo 2026 promote innovation and partnerships. He assured continued government support to expand the pharma sector.
