Hyderabad: Telangana rolled out a school report cards WhatsApp system to deliver annual academic records to over 18 lakh students studying in Classes 5 to 9.
Officials said the initiative marked a shift to digital distribution of report cards in state-run schools. The service was implemented through the Mee Seva platform.
Parents received report cards directly on WhatsApp, eliminating the need to visit schools. The move aimed to ensure faster and secure access to academic records.

The initiative was led by the Department of IT, Electronics and Communications. It introduced a paperless system for sharing student performance data.
Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu said the system reflected the state’s focus on digital governance. He stated that the goal was to deliver services directly to families.
He added that sending report cards through WhatsApp saved time and reduced effort for parents. Furthermore, he said the initiative improved transparency and accessibility.
Officials said the report cards WhatsApp system would strengthen service delivery. It is expected to support wider adoption of digital platforms in education.
