Damodar Rajanarasimha distributes appointment letters to 1,919 nursing officers

Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha distributed appointment letters to 1,919 nursing officers recruited in the Health Department.

The programme took place at Osmania Medical College grounds in Koti.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, MLCs Addanki Dayakar and Mirza Rahmath Baig attended the event along with senior Health Department officials.

Addressing the gathering, Damodar Rajanarasimha extended greetings to nurses on the occasion of International Nurses Day.

He congratulated the newly appointed nursing officers and their families for securing government jobs.

Nursing officers receive appointment letters in Hyderabad

The minister said nursing was not just a profession but an opportunity to serve humanity.

He said nurses provide treatment as well as courage and confidence to patients.

Recalling the role of Florence Nightingale, he urged newly recruited nurses to draw inspiration from her service and discipline.

Damodar Rajanarasimha praised nurses for their services during the COVID-19 pandemic and said people would always remember their contribution.

He said the government had prioritised filling vacancies in government hospitals. The Health Department filled nearly 13,000 posts during the last two-and-a-half years.

The minister said the government had earlier distributed appointment letters to lab technicians, civil assistant surgeon specialists and assistant professors at the same venue.

With the latest recruitment, the government filled around 9,000 nursing posts during the last two-and-a-half years.

He said officials were conducting recruitment for another 5,000 posts.

The minister also said authorities would announce results for nearly 2,000 ANM posts soon. He added that officials would complete recruitment for 732 pharmacist posts shortly.

Damodar Rajanarasimha said the government established 16 new nursing colleges in the last two years and created 960 BSc Nursing seats.

He said the government was also providing English, German and Japanese language training in nursing colleges to improve overseas job opportunities.

The minister announced that the government was taking steps to establish a separate Nursing Directorate for the welfare and professional development of nurses.
