Hyderabad: The Telangana government increased the government job age limit by 10 years for recruitment to general category state government posts. Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao issued official orders announcing the decision.
Under the existing rules, candidates could apply for general government jobs only up to 34 years of age. However, the latest decision raised the maximum age limit to 44 years.
The government clarified that the additional age relaxation would apply to all upcoming recruitment notifications issued during the next one year.
government job age limit relaxed for unemployed youth
The government took the decision after several unemployed candidates sought age relaxation due to delays in recruitment after Telangana’s formation. Officials also considered disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and delays in issuing job notifications.
According to the government, the revised rule will apply to all general recruitment notifications issued by various recruitment agencies in the state.
However, the relaxation will not apply to uniformed services that require physical fitness standards. The government said existing age rules would continue for police, excise, fire services, prisons and forest department jobs.
