Hyderabad: A woman kills daughter case surfaced in Hyderabad’s Old Alwal after police arrested a mother for allegedly murdering her six-year-old child to marry her lover. Investigators said the accused drowned the girl in a water tank at her house and later attempted to present the incident as a missing case.
According to police, Rekha, a resident of Old Alwal, concealed her pregnancy before marrying a man named Raju. After learning that she was pregnant, Raju reportedly left her soon after the marriage.
Two months later, Rekha gave birth to a girl child and started living with her parents. During that period, she allegedly developed an extramarital relationship with a man named Sai, who worked at a grocery store.

Police said the couple planned to get married. However, Sai’s parents reportedly opposed the marriage because Rekha already had a daughter named Tanvika, aged six.
Investigators alleged that Rekha believed the child had become an obstacle to the marriage. Police said she threw the girl into a water tank at her house when no one was present and later filled the tank with water after closing the lid.
After the incident, the accused allegedly pretended that the child had gone missing and informed neighbours and relatives. Meanwhile, Rekha’s sister Swetha approached police and lodged a complaint.
Police examined CCTV footage from the area and reportedly found the accused going to the terrace with the child and returning alone. During questioning, Rekha allegedly confessed that she committed the murder to marry her lover.
Police later registered a case and arrested the accused woman.
