Second fuel price hike in a week; petrol, diesel dearer by 90 paise a litre

Hyderabad: Fuel price hike hit consumers again as oil companies increased petrol and diesel prices by nearly 90 paise per litre across the country. The latest revision marked the second fuel price hike within a week.

Oil companies revised fuel prices after international crude oil prices surged sharply in the global market. Meanwhile, officials linked the increase to growing tensions in West Asia and concerns over possible supply disruptions.

In Hyderabad, petrol prices increased by 99 paise to Rs 111.88 per litre. Similarly, diesel prices also rose by 99 paise and touched Rs 99.95 per litre.

Chennai recorded an 82 paise increase, pushing petrol prices to Rs 104.49 per litre. In addition, diesel prices also witnessed sharp hikes in several cities.

Kolkata and Mumbai recorded a 94 paise increase per litre in diesel prices. As a result, diesel prices climbed to Rs 96.07 in Kolkata and Rs 94.08 in Mumbai.

Officials said tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran pushed Brent crude oil prices beyond the 100-dollar mark. Consequently, the surge in crude oil prices later impacted domestic fuel prices.
