Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police detected a fake number plate case during enforcement checks in the city. Police apprehended a man for allegedly using another vehicle’s registration number on his two-wheeler.
Based on the information collected during the checks, Mehdipatnam Police registered a criminal case against Susender Chidambaram, 30, a resident of Sai Nagar in Mehdipatnam. Police later apprehended him during the investigation.
Investigators found that the accused affixed registration number TS09FF7061 to his Honda Activa. Police said he purchased the vehicle in 2017 but never registered it with the concerned Regional Transport Office.

According to police, the misuse of the registration number caused multiple traffic challans to reach the genuine owner of the original vehicle. During the investigation, officials identified the actual vehicle number as TS10YTR5376.
Authorities registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. Meanwhile, Hyderabad Traffic Police warned that using fake, tampered or identical number plates is a serious punishable offence.
Officials said CCTV cameras and ANPR surveillance systems were helping police detect such violations across the city. Citizens can report suspected misuse of vehicle registration numbers through the Hyderabad Traffic Police e-Challan portal, official email and WhatsApp helpline.
