Hyderabad: Police arrested six people, including Ward 3 Councillor Padidala Saidulu, in a CCTV camera vandalism case at Bibigudem village in Suryapet district. Suryapet Rural Circle Inspector Rajasekhar said police also booked the accused for allegedly obstructing officers from performing their duties.
The six arrested persons were subsequently sent to remand. Rajasekhar disclosed the case details during a press conference at the Suryapet Rural Circle office.
Police received information through Dial 112 on Monday night about community CCTV cameras being damaged at Bibigudem village in Chivvemla mandal. Officers then reached the location after receiving the alert.
CCTV camera vandalism case leads to six arrests
According to the Circle Inspector, the community cameras had been installed for public safety. Police alleged that Councillor Saidulu and his associates obstructed officers from carrying out their duties when they reached the village.
Following the incident, police registered a case and arrested six people. Besides Saidulu, police arrested Padidala Durgaprasad and Padidala Kiran. They also arrested Matsa Rambabu, Golkonda Murali and Padidala Satish.
Police subsequently produced the accused for remand in connection with the CCTV camera vandalism case. Rajasekhar warned that police would take strict action against anyone damaging systems installed to protect the public.
He also warned against obstructing police personnel while they performed their official duties. The Circle Inspector said authorities viewed damage to public safety infrastructure seriously.
Chivvemla Sub-Inspector Mahesh and SI-2 Venkanna attended the press conference. Other police personnel were also present. The CCTV camera vandalism case remained linked to Monday night’s incident in Bibigudem, where police responded after receiving the Dial 112 information.
