Bhatti blames BRS for Telangana’s ₹8.21 lakh crore debt

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday accused the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government of pushing Telangana debt to ₹8.21 lakh crore. He alleged that financial mismanagement and corruption had weakened the State’s economy.

Addressing a public meeting at Julekal village in Vaddepalli mandal of Alampur constituency, Bhatti Vikramarka said the Congress government had inherited severe financial liabilities. He claimed Telangana had earlier maintained a surplus budget.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the Congress government has already repaid ₹2.08 lakh crore towards principal and interest during the last two and a half years.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government was paying salaries to employees on time. It was also providing free electricity to farmers. In addition, the State had paid ₹12,000 crore to the RTC for the free bus travel scheme for women.

Meanwhile, Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the ₹5 lakh Indiramma Insurance Scheme would be launched in November. The launch will coincide with the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
