Adilabad CCI factory revival raised with Centre
The delegation planned to meet Kumaraswamy and explain the demand for restoring operations at the closed cement plant. Moreover, the leaders intended to highlight the employment potential of the proposed revival.
After the meeting, KTR and the other delegation members planned to address a media conference in Delhi. The BRS said it supported the long-standing demand of local residents and workers seeking the plant’s reopening.
Adilabad CCI factory closed in 1998
The Cement Corporation of India unit in Adilabad began operations in 1984. However, the plant stopped functioning in 1998. Since then, local residents have demanded its revival to restore industrial activity and create employment in the district.
According to the demand raised by local groups, the Centre would need an estimated ₹2,000 crore to revive the unit. They also claimed the restored plant could provide employment to nearly 3,000 people.
Therefore, the BRS delegation prepared to submit a memorandum to the Union Minister in support of the campaign. The party said reopening the Adilabad CCI factory would benefit workers, local youth and the wider district economy.
