Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar reviewed welfare schemes and development works in Veera Valbhapur village of Elkathurthi mandal in Husnabad constituency.
As part of the “Palle Palleku Ponnam Anna – Palle Palleno Praja Palana” programme, Ponnam Prabhakar interacted directly with villagers and heard their grievances.
He also reviewed the implementation of welfare schemes and development works with officials. Further, he received petitions from residents and directed officials to take immediate steps to resolve their problems.
The village has received 13 Indiramma houses. In addition, 233 residents receive pensions and 349 families benefit from 200 units of free electricity.
Moreover, 464 farmers receive Rythu Bharosa benefits, while 176 farmers have benefited from loan waivers. Officials have also issued 56 new ration cards in the village.
Women’s groups receive interest-free and bank-linked loans. Meanwhile, a Steel Bank initiative has been taken up to reduce plastic use.
Ponnam Prabhakar directs action on local issues
Ponnam Prabhakar directed the district Collector to resolve the land issue concerning the proposed women’s building immediately. He also asked officials to address problems involving canals, roads, drainage and service roads.
Furthermore, he urged every household to construct soak pits and give priority to water conservation. Considering the prevailing dry conditions, he asked farmers to consider dryland crops, alternative crops and oil palm cultivation.
The Minister also asked eligible residents to apply for pensions by August 31. He called for stronger government schools and encouraged young people to take up sports instead of becoming dependent on mobile phones.
He also urged every family to make use of the PM Surya Ghar scheme and promote solar power.
According to Ponnam Prabhakar, the main purpose of the “Palle Palleku Ponnam Anna – Palle Palleno Praja Palana” programme was to take governance to people’s doorsteps. The programme also aimed to bring officials directly before residents and address their grievances.
The Minister directed officials to act on the issues raised by villagers during the visit.
