Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand reviewed Bakrid security arrangements and warned individuals and organisations against disturbing peace, public order and communal harmony during the forthcoming festival in the State.
The DGP chaired a video conference with senior officials from the Police, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Revenue, and Animal Husbandry departments. The officials reviewed preparedness and coordination across Telangana.
Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Animal Husbandry Secretary K. Ilambarthi, senior Revenue officials, Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police, and field officers attended the meeting.
Officials held the review following directions issued during meetings chaired by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. They instructed field officers to maintain strict vigilance against illegal transportation and trafficking of cattle during the festival period.
Police officers will strictly enforce provisions under the Cow Slaughter Act, the Transport of Animals Rules, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Authorities also warned violators of stringent legal action.
Bakrid security intensified with border surveillance
The police department deployed 52 interstate check posts along Telangana’s borders with neighbouring States. It also activated 203 check posts across Telangana to monitor suspicious cattle movement.
Officials instructed police teams to intensify vehicle inspections and verify transport-related certificates. They also ordered special surveillance at cattle fairs in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the DGP instructed officers to stop individuals or organisations from taking the law into their own hands. Police warned that they would act firmly against attempts to spread misinformation, create confrontation, or incite tensions through physical activity or social media platforms.
In addition, Commissioners and Superintendents of Police will hold coordination meetings with community representatives. The meetings aim to prevent misunderstandings and ensure peaceful celebrations across districts.
Police officials said Bakrid security measures would continue across Telangana to maintain public order and ensure peaceful observance of the festival.
