Collector orders faster paddy procurement in Suryapet district

Hyderabad: Suryapet District Collector Tejas Nand Lal Pawar directed officials to accelerate paddy procurement operations. He also asked them to ensure that farmers faced no difficulties during the ongoing season.

The Collector, along with Superintendent of Police K. Narasimha, inspected several rice mills in the district. These included Balaji Rice Mill in Munagala mandal and Sri Vasavi Matha Rice Mill in Kodad mandal.

The team also visited Sri Dhanalakshmi Parboiled Rice Mill in Kodad mandal. In Ananthagiri mandal, officials inspected Padmavathi, Venkateswara, and Lakshmi rice mills.

Officials reviewed the paddy unloading process at the mills. Later, the Collector briefed the media on procurement arrangements in the district.

Agriculture Department officials estimated that the district would receive nearly four lakh metric tonnes of paddy this season. However, authorities expect around 3.5 lakh metric tonnes to reach procurement centres.

The Collector said officials had already procured 2.10 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Authorities also shifted the stocks to rice mills.

He said officials had completed arrangements to collect the remaining stocks. They also prepared plans to finish bagging operations and transport paddy to mills without delay.

Paddy procurement process intensified with additional transport support

The Collector said officials were coordinating with Police, Revenue, and Transport departments. They were arranging adequate lorries at procurement centres to speed up paddy procurement.

Meanwhile, officials identified additional warehouses to prevent unloading delays at rice mills. Authorities also doubled the number of hamalis to speed up handling operations.

The Collector said officials were coordinating with rice mills in Kodad and Huzurnagar regions. The move aimed to ensure smooth movement of paddy stocks.

He warned millers against imposing deductions on farmers’ produce in the name of quality cuts or wastage. The Collector said authorities would not tolerate violations.

He also warned of action against millers who violated procurement norms. Officials from Civil Supplies and Revenue departments were conducting continuous inspections at mills and procurement centres.

DSO Mohan Babu, RDO Suryanarayana, Munagala Tahsildar Saritha, Kodad Tahsildar Santosh Kiran, Ananthagiri Tahsildar Himabindu, and rice mill owners attended the inspections.
