Hyderabad: Mahabubabad District Collector and Magistrate Sneha Shabarish called on all sections of society to work responsibly to prevent drug abuse and child marriages in the district.
She spoke at a district-level Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika meeting held on Friday at PSR Convention Hall in Mahabubabad district headquarters under the 99-day action plan. The programme began with the Telangana State Anthem and the reading of the Chief Minister’s message.
Officials arranged stalls related to double-bedroom housing, oil palm cultivation, agriculture, industries, health, Indian Red Cross activities and handloom sectors at the venue.
Sneha Shabarish said the Telangana government remained committed to transparent and people-centric governance. She stated that the administration was focusing on the welfare and economic empowerment of weaker sections.
The Collector said officials had digitised all pension applications received during the Praja Palana programme. She added that authorities would process them after government approvals.
She also said Mahabubabad district secured sixth place in the state in the progress of Indiramma Housing construction works. According to the Collector, the district administration was ready to complete the remaining targets quickly.
The Collector said Mahabubabad district secured fifth place in the state in SSC examination results. She added that officials would focus on Intermediate and vocational education courses.
Meanwhile, she encouraged farmers to adopt crop diversification, oil palm cultivation, organic farming, sericulture and horticulture practices. She also promoted the use of nano urea to improve soil fertility and increase profits.
Mahabubabad Collector reviews welfare and anti-drug measures
Mahabubabad Collector Sneha Shabarish warned farmers against excessive use of chemical fertilisers like urea. She said overuse could damage soil health.
The Collector said authorities had formed special teams to curb ganja, drugs and other intoxicants in the district. She added that officials were conducting awareness programmes to prevent addiction among youth.
She warned that authorities would take strict action against those involved in drug sales and distribution. In addition, she said surveillance teams were continuously monitoring child marriages across the district.
Sneha Shabarish stated that officials would take strict action against violators involved in child marriages. She said educating girl children and ensuring economic independence would strengthen families and society.
The Collector said the government was providing skill development training and employment opportunities to unemployed youth. Around 6,000 unemployed youth reportedly registered with the district employment office.
She encouraged students to join vocational training programmes immediately after completing Class 10. Under DRDA and MEPMA initiatives, authorities sanctioned interest-free loans worth more than ₹659 crore to thousands of Self Help Groups.
The Collector also reviewed the implementation of welfare schemes including Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Houses, Gruha Jyothi, Mahalakshmi Scheme, Cheyutha, Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak and free breakfast schemes from pre-primary to Intermediate level.
She further reviewed awareness drives conducted under the 99-day action plan. These included sanitation campaigns, health awareness drives, road safety programmes, anti-drug campaigns, anti-child marriage drives, farmer welfare week events and youth sports festivals.
Preparations are also underway for Vanamahotsavam programmes scheduled from June 1 to 12 with a focus on greenery and environmental protection.
