KCR says Muharram symbolises sacrifice and communal harmony

Hyderabad: BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao said Muharram symbolises righteousness, truth and sacrifice, and described the festival as a reflection of Telangana’s Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb that promotes communal harmony. He made the remarks in a statement issued on Thursday.

KCR said the Peer festival, celebrated from villages to towns across Telangana, showcases religious harmony. He noted that people from different castes and religions take part in Muharram observances held in memory of the sacrifices of Hassan and Hussain, highlighting the state’s tradition of unity.

He said the participation of people across communities reflected Telangana’s inclusive culture and hoped the spirit of harmony would continue in the years ahead.
