Youth held for using fake number plate to avoid traffic fines in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police arrested a youth for allegedly using a fake number plate on a motorcycle to avoid traffic fines in the city.

Police registered a criminal case at Banjara Hills Police Station after detecting the violation during enforcement checks.

The accused was identified as 23-year-old Karthika Jaya Kumar, a private employee from Deepthisri Nagar in Madinaguda, Serilingampally.

Police said the accused affixed registration number TG07AE0286 on his unregistered Yamaha MT bike.

The registration number originally belonged to a Suzuki Access scooter owned by another person.

Fake number plate caused wrong traffic challans

Investigators found that the motorcycle originally carried temporary registration number TG07KT/R0826.

However, the accused allegedly used the duplicate plate to evade enforcement action and traffic challans.

As a result, traffic violations committed by the accused wrongly targeted the genuine vehicle owner.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police and Banjara Hills Police jointly solved the case.

Police warned that using fake or tampered number plates was a serious punishable offence under law.

Officials said authorities were using advanced surveillance systems, including CCTV and ANPR cameras, to identify such violations.

Citizens can report suspicious number plate misuse through the Hyderabad Traffic e-Challan portal, official email and WhatsApp helpline.
