DCA seizes illegal abortion kits worth ₹47,672 in Nalgonda

Hyderabad: The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) seized illegal abortion kits worth ₹47,672 during a raid on a wholesale medical agency in Nalgonda. Officials alleged that the agency stocked the kits without valid purchase bills.

Officials inspected Sri Laxmi Medical Agencies in Prakasham Bazaar. They found and seized 113 Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) kits during the raid.

Illegal abortion kits found during inspection

The DCA alleged that the agency stored the illegal abortion kits in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Officials collected samples from the stock. They also sent the samples for laboratory analysis. Meanwhile, the department began legal proceedings.

The DCA warned that anyone selling abortion kits illegally faces up to two years in prison under the applicable law. It urged the public to report medicine-related violations and suspected illegal drug manufacturing activities.

The department also asked people to report suspected activities involving narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in residential, commercial and industrial areas.
