HYDRAA deploys bike teams for faster monsoon emergency response

Hyderabad: HYDRAA has intensified the deployment of its HYDRAA bike teams to improve emergency response during the monsoon season and ensure quicker restoration of traffic movement across Hyderabad.

Heavy rainfall and strong winds have led to frequent incidents of fallen trees, waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several parts of the city.

Officials said the bike teams reach affected locations quickly, particularly in areas where larger Disaster Response Force (DRF) vehicles cannot access immediately.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had launched the bike teams during the inauguration of the HYDRAA Police Station last year.

This monsoon, HYDRAA has expanded their operational role.

HYDRAA bike teams clear fallen trees and waterlogging

HYDRAA has positioned 20 motorcycles alongside DRF vehicles at strategic locations across the city.

A total of 60 personnel work in three shifts to provide round-the-clock emergency support.

Officials use the teams as rapid-response units during emergencies.

Each motorcycle carries equipment boxes fitted with battery-operated chainsaws and heavy-duty ropes.

The teams use these tools to cut fallen branches and remove obstructions from roads.

Further, the bike teams assist in clearing traffic bottlenecks before larger response vehicles arrive.

Officials said the teams can navigate congested roads and reach incident sites much faster.

In addition to tree-clearance operations, the teams also respond to waterlogging complaints.

They carry basic tools and immediately begin relief measures to restore traffic movement.

HYDRAA trained the personnel to handle multiple emergency situations during the monsoon season.

Meanwhile, the bike teams work alongside DRF units, Monsoon Emergency Teams and Static Teams.

Officials said the coordinated approach helps reduce disruptions caused by heavy rain and fallen trees.

On Friday night, bike teams responded after three trees collapsed on Road No. 1 in Banjara Hills.

They also removed trees that had fallen onto the Millennium Block building at NIMS.

Officials said the teams quickly cleared branches and restored traffic flow before larger vehicles reached the spot.

HYDRAA said the bike teams have emerged as a key component of its emergency response mechanism during the monsoon season.
