Joint inspection conducted at waterlogging points in Rajendranagar Zone

Hyderabad: A joint team of HYDRAA, Traffic Police, Law and Order Police and GHMC conducted an inspection of key *waterlogging points* in Rajendranagar and Shamshabad to strengthen monsoon preparedness and prevent urban flooding.

HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, Joint Commissioner of Traffic D. Joel Davis, DCP Traffic-III Rahul Hegde, DCP Shamshabad Zone B. Rajesh and GHMC Rajendranagar Zonal Commissioner Srinivasa Reddy led the inspection.

Senior officials from HYDRAA, GHMC, Traffic Police and Law and Order wings participated in the field visit.

The team inspected vulnerable locations that experience severe water accumulation during heavy rainfall.

These included the Ramdev Baba waterlogging point and locations near Pillars 265 and 191 on the PVNR Expressway.

Officials reviewed drainage infrastructure, stormwater drain capacity and rainwater flow channels at the sites.

Waterlogging points to get targeted monsoon measures

During the inspection, officials directed GHMC and HYDRAA teams to remove silt, plastic waste and construction debris blocking catch pits and drainage inlets.

They also decided to station high-capacity dewatering pumps at the Ramdev Baba point and selected PVNR Expressway locations.

The pumps will help remove accumulated water during intense rainfall events.

Meanwhile, Traffic Police officials prepared a special traffic management plan for the monsoon season.

Emergency teams will manage diversions, use public address systems and remove stalled vehicles with cranes to prevent congestion.

Furthermore, HYDRAA, GHMC monsoon emergency squads and Traffic Police personnel will maintain round-the-clock coordination during heavy rains.

Officials said they would use wireless communication systems to share real-time information on water levels and traffic conditions.

The team also instructed field staff to repair damaged gratings and strengthen safety barriers around major stormwater drains.

Senior officials emphasised that public safety and uninterrupted traffic movement remain the highest priorities during the monsoon season.

They assured citizens that all departments are working together to respond quickly to heavy rainfall and minimise disruptions across the city.
