Dasoju Sravan Kumar opposes medical tourism plans at TIMS Sanathnagar

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar criticised the Telangana government’s reported plans to promote medical tourism at TIMS Sanathnagar, alleging that the move would divert attention from the healthcare needs of local patients.

In a statement on Friday, he claimed that many poor and middle-class families continue to struggle for access to quality healthcare in government hospitals.

He alleged that the government was focusing on attracting international patients instead of strengthening services for residents.

Dasoju referred to TIMS Sanathnagar as a facility established to provide world-class treatment free of cost to ordinary citizens.

TIMS Sanathnagar should prioritise local patients, says Dasoju

The BRS leader criticised the proposal to create an international medical tourism block within the hospital premises.

He alleged that the government was attempting to commercialise a public healthcare institution.

Further, Dasoju questioned the reported move to earmark medical resources for foreign patients.

He claimed that local residents still face difficulties in accessing healthcare services.

The MLC also criticised the formation of a committee to examine medical tourism initiatives.

According to him, the government should first address shortcomings in the public healthcare system.

He argued that authorities should improve infrastructure, staffing and healthcare services before pursuing medical tourism projects.

Additionally, Dasoju alleged that the administration was giving priority to business-oriented initiatives instead of public welfare.

He maintained that government hospitals should focus on delivering quality healthcare to Telangana residents.

The BRS leader said authorities could consider medical tourism initiatives only after ensuring comprehensive healthcare access for local patients.
