Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar alleged that the proposed Hyderabad Metro takeover from L&T could result in financial irregularities. He demanded a detailed inquiry into the process.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Dasoju criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s statements on the metro project.
He questioned the government’s plans to acquire metro assets from L&T.
Dasoju alleged that the government was trying to transfer valuable metro assets through the proposed deal.
He also objected to the Chief Minister’s claim that the state could acquire assets worth ₹30,000 crore for around ₹15,000 crore.
Hyderabad Metro takeover sparks political controversy
The BRS leader defended the previous government’s handling of the metro project.
He argued that Congress governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh caused delays in the project.
According to Dasoju, the K. Chandrashekhar Rao government completed the first phase while preserving historical and religious structures.
He also criticised Revanth Reddy’s remarks against K. Chandrashekhar Rao and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao.
Furthermore, Dasoju questioned why L&T would sell assets at a much lower valuation if they were worth ₹30,000 crore.
He alleged that the state government was attempting to take over liabilities linked to the metro project.
The BRS MLC also raised concerns about metro stations, substations, commercial properties and land parcels associated with the project.
He demanded a transparent inquiry into the acquisition proposal.
He also challenged the government to place all details in the public domain.
Dasoju seeks probe into acquisition process
Dasoju alleged that the proposed acquisition involved major financial interests.
He urged the government to order an investigation and disclose all facts related to the process.
The BRS leader further claimed that the Congress government pressured officials associated with the metro project after assuming office.
He also questioned the decision to cancel the Hitec City–Shamshabad Metro Phase-2 project.
According to him, the project carried an estimated cost of ₹6,200 crore.
He said the government should explain the reasons behind the cancellation.
Meanwhile, Dasoju accused the state government of failing to secure approvals and funding for Metro Phase-2 despite repeated efforts.
He questioned why Congress MPs did not raise the issue more aggressively in Parliament.
The BRS leader also criticised the Chief Minister’s allegations against Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and K.T. Rama Rao over delays in metro expansion.
Moreover, Dasoju alleged that the government was shifting responsibility instead of addressing the project’s challenges.
He demanded complete clarity on the future of the Hyderabad Metro takeover and the proposed expansion plans.
