Hyderabad DCC SIR review focuses on voter verification

Division presidents were instructed to coordinate closely with Booth Level Agents during the SIR exercise. Leaders also stressed that eligible voters should not be excluded from the electoral rolls.

The Election Commission launched the SIR exercise to prepare an error-free voter database by including eligible voters and removing duplicate or ineligible entries.

According to the schedule for Hyderabad district, officials will conduct a door-to-door survey from June 25 to July 24. Booth Level Officers will distribute special enumeration forms, collect filled forms and issue receipts during the exercise.

The Election Commission will publish draft electoral rolls on July 31. Authorities will accept claims and objections from July 31 to August 30. Verification and hearings will continue till September 28, while officials will release the final electoral rolls on October 1.

Voters can also submit enumeration forms online through the Election Commission portal using their mobile number or EPIC number. In addition, citizens can seek assistance through BLOs or the toll-free helpline 1950.

The Hyderabad DCC also discussed concerns raised earlier by TPCC President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud regarding the SIR process. He had urged the Chief Electoral Officer to conduct the revision carefully and in phases to avoid wrongful deletion of voters.

The Congress party also sought adequate time for objections, written notices before deletion of names and proper verification by Booth Level Officers.

Syed Khalid Saifullah said the Hyderabad DCC would closely monitor the SIR exercise through division presidents and BLAs to protect the voting rights of eligible citizens.
