Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer R.V. Karnan urged political parties to support the voter roll revision process and cooperate with election officials to ensure accurate and error-free electoral rolls.

Karnan held a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties along with Hyderabad District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala and Additional Commissioner (Election) K. Chandrakala.

During the meeting, officials explained the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and highlighted the importance of maintaining a transparent, inclusive and accurate electoral roll.

Officials said the administration would distribute enumeration forms in English to all eligible voters. The move aims to help voters understand the process and submit details correctly.

Voter roll revision requires timely cooperation

The District Election Officer urged political parties to extend full cooperation to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the voter roll revision exercise. He stressed that timely submission of enumeration forms is essential for updating electoral records accurately.

Furthermore, officials cautioned that voters who fail to provide the required details may not find their names in the draft electoral roll. The Commissioner also requested political parties to ensure that no one obstructs BLOs while they perform their duties in the field.

Officials said the revision exercise seeks to create a transparent, inclusive and error-free electoral roll. They also appealed to political party representatives to encourage eligible voters to complete and submit the forms within the stipulated timeframe.

The election authorities expressed confidence that cooperation from political parties and voters would help complete the voter roll revision process smoothly and efficiently.
