Hyderabad: Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, Prohibition and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao flagged off Indira Mahila Shakti buses distributed to women’s groups in Chinnambavi mandal of Kollapur constituency on Wednesday.
After the launch, the Minister briefly drove one of the newly distributed buses and interacted with the beneficiaries. He congratulated the women and wished them success in their entrepreneurial ventures.
Addressing the gathering, Jupally Krishna Rao said the Congress government, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is committed to strengthening women’s economic empowerment across Telangana.
Indira Mahila Shakti buses boost livelihoods
The Minister said the Indira Mahila Shakti buses initiative aims to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for Self-Help Group (SHG) members.
He stated that the programme supports women through financial assistance, skill development and income-generation opportunities. As a result, beneficiaries can build independent and sustainable sources of income. Furthermore, he said the distribution of buses would generate employment opportunities for women while enhancing their financial stability.
Jupally Krishna Rao said the initiative goes beyond income generation and contributes to the social empowerment of women. He noted that stronger economic participation would help women achieve greater self-reliance and improve their quality of life.
Moreover, the Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to women’s welfare and empowerment. He urged beneficiaries to utilise the opportunity effectively and work towards long-term financial growth.
The programme forms part of the State government’s broader efforts to promote entrepreneurship among women and strengthen Self-Help Groups across Telangana.
