Hyderabad: Government Whip Dr. Balmoor Venkat urged Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to ensure that eligible voters remain on electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
He addressed a training programme for BLAs in the Kodad Assembly segment of Nalgonda Parliamentary constituency on Saturday.
MLA Uttam Padmavathi Reddy, Congress leaders, BLAs and SIR trainers attended the programme.
Balmoor Venkat alleged that some forces were trying to remove votes opposed to the BJP under the guise of the SIR process.
Therefore, he urged party workers and BLAs to remain vigilant throughout the voter list revision exercise.
Eligible voters must remain on electoral rolls
Meanwhile, Balmoor Venkat said the Congress party was conducting training programmes to create awareness about the SIR process.
He said party leaders and BLAs must fully understand the revision exercise.
Furthermore, he stressed that proper training would help protect the voting rights of citizens.
The government whip instructed BLAs to examine voter lists carefully in every polling booth.
He asked them to ensure that eligible voters do not lose their names from the rolls.
Additionally, he directed workers to focus on enrolling new voters who have completed 18 years of age.
At the same time, he advised BLAs to exercise caution while reviewing names marked for deletion.
He said every eligible voter should get an opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
Therefore, he called on party workers to closely monitor every stage of the revision exercise.
