Vamsi Krishna urges vigilance during electoral roll revision

Hyderabad: Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna urged Congress workers and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to remain alert during the ongoing electoral roll revision process and ensure that no eligible voter is excluded from the voter list.

The MP made the remarks while addressing an awareness and training programme for Congress leaders, BLAs and party workers at Padmavathi Gardens in Mancherial town on Sunday.

Describing voting as a sacred democratic right guaranteed by the Constitution, Vamsi Krishna stressed the importance of maintaining accurate and error-free electoral rolls. He said the integrity of voter lists was essential for strengthening democratic institutions.

The MP instructed Booth Level Agents to conduct door-to-door verification during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and ensure that every eligible voter remained on the rolls. He also called for special efforts to identify and enroll young citizens who had recently attained the age of 18.

Vamsi Krishna said BLAs should promptly report cases involving migration, deaths and changes of address to election authorities so that voter records remain updated and accurate.

Electoral roll revision requires grassroots monitoring

The MP advised party workers and Booth Level Agents to thoroughly understand the procedures related to Forms 6, 7 and 8 and educate voters about their use during the electoral roll revision process.

He warned cadres to closely monitor the voter verification exercise and immediately identify any attempts to remove the names of eligible voters. According to him, timely intervention was necessary to safeguard the voting rights of citizens.

Vamsi Krishna described booth-level workers as the backbone of both the Congress party and the democratic system. He said their role was crucial in ensuring fair electoral processes and strengthening public participation in democracy.

The MP also called on party workers to remain active at the grassroots level and work towards protecting democratic values while strengthening the organisation. He said the ongoing electoral roll revision exercise offered an opportunity to ensure that every eligible citizen was represented in the voter list.
