Booth Level Agents urged to support voter list revision in Malakpet

Hyderabad: Booth Level Agents must play an active role in the voter list revision process, Malakpet AIMIM MLA Ahmed Balala said on Wednesday. He made the remarks at a special awareness seminar for Booth Level Agents at Imperial Garden in Chaderghat.

The programme focused on the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Balala said the initiative was vital for strengthening democracy. He urged agents to work at the grassroots level. He also asked them to ensure that every eligible resident above 18 years finds a place in the electoral rolls.

The MLA stressed the need for accuracy during the revision exercise. He asked agents to identify duplicate entries. He also directed them to facilitate the removal of names belonging to deceased voters and people who had migrated.

Meanwhile, Balala said voting is a constitutional right available to every eligible citizen. Therefore, he urged Booth Level Agents to act responsibly and safeguard that right.

He also called for transparency throughout the revision process. According to him, officials and agents should verify records carefully before removing any name from the voter list. He said the exercise should remain free from errors.

Further, he directed agents to perform their duties with honesty and diligence. He asked them to avoid mistakes and complete the registration process in a systematic manner.

A large number of polling booth agents, party leaders and workers from the constituency attended the programme. The participants also discussed ways to improve voter enrolment and ensure smooth implementation of the Special Intensive Revision exercise.
