Osmania University earns four ISO certifications, first in India

Hyderabad: Osmania University has become the first university in India to receive four ISO certifications simultaneously from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

The achievement marks a major milestone in academic quality, sustainability and institutional excellence.

The university earned certifications in four different categories.

As a result, it achieved a distinction unmatched by any other university in the country.

At a special programme held on the university campus in Hyderabad on Wednesday, BIS Southern Region Deputy Director General Sandeep Kumar Kanojia presented the certificates to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumar.

The recognition marks a significant chapter in the university’s history.

Osmania University receives recognition in four key areas

The university received ISO 21001:2018 certification for its Educational Organizations Management System.

The certification recognises adherence to international academic standards.

Additionally, the university earned ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental management and waste management practices.

It also secured ISO 50001:2018 certification for energy management and efficient use of power resources.

Meanwhile, ISO 22000:2018 recognised food safety standards maintained in university hostels and canteens.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumar said the certifications reflected the institution’s commitment to quality education.

Furthermore, he said the achievement highlighted the university’s focus on environmental responsibility, energy conservation and food safety.

He described the simultaneous receipt of four BIS-backed ISO certifications as a proud achievement for the university and the higher education sector.
