Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police arrested a matrimonial fraud offender accused of cheating women through fake profiles created on matrimonial platforms.
Cyber Crime Police identified the accused as Manda Venkata Kameshu from Undrajawaram in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Investigators said the accused created fake accounts on Telugu Matrimony, Reddy Matrimony, Brahmin Matrimony, Kamma Matrimony and other matrimonial applications.
According to police, the accused projected himself as a wealthy and well-settled person using fake identities. He allegedly targeted women searching for matrimonial alliances and gained their trust through WhatsApp calls, Instagram chats and emotional conversations.

Police said the accused later convinced victims to transfer money and share bank details, OTPs and credit card information on false pretexts. Investigators alleged that he used the cheated money for online betting and casinos in Goa.
Cyberabad police said the accused was involved in nearly 20 criminal cases related to cheating and matrimonial frauds across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Officials apprehended the accused during the investigation and later sent him to judicial custody.
Cyber Crime Police advised citizens to remain cautious while interacting with unknown persons on matrimonial and social media platforms. Police also urged people not to trust online profiles based only on photographs, job claims or luxury lifestyle displays.
Officials further warned citizens against sharing OTPs, bank account details, debit card information or other financial credentials with unknown individuals.
Police advised the public to verify identities and background details before proceeding with matrimonial alliances. Citizens can report cyber offences through the 1930 Cyber Helpline or at nearby Cyber Crime Police Stations.
