Fake 2-BHK housing allotment fraud busted in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Alwal Police uncovered a fake 2-BHK housing fraud and arrested three accused for allegedly cheating nearly 100 people by promising Government house allotments. Police seized 79 forged Government 2-BHK allotment certificates and three mobile phones used in the offence.

Police identified the arrested accused as Timmiri Gopinath Pushpalatha, 54, of Tirumalagiri, her son Timmiri Gopinath Vishal, 21, and Mahender Singh, 45, proprietor of Radhaswamy Xerox Centre in Tirumalagiri. Investigators produced all three before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

According to the investigation, the accused collected between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh from each victim as processing charges. They falsely claimed that Pushpalatha held a senior position in GHMC and could secure Government 2-BHK house allotments.

Fake 2-BHK housing fraud targeted poor families

Police said the accused handed over forged Government 2-BHK allotment certificates to gain the confidence of victims. Nearly 100 poor and economically weaker people believed the documents were genuine and waited for almost three years before discovering the alleged fraud.

Investigators said Pushpalatha and Vishal prepared the forged allotment certificates and distributed them to victims. Mahender Singh allegedly designed and printed the fake certificates at his Xerox centre in Trimulgherry.

The case originated from a complaint filed by Gogikar Prasad. Alwal Police registered Crime No.489/2026 on May 20, 2026, and launched an investigation. Police later apprehended the three accused on June 24.

Fake 2-BHK housing fraud investigation continues

Police said the prime accused, Jayaraj Gangadharan, along with Nisha Raj, Chintu Raj and Raj & Co. Rubber Stamps of Ranigunj, remained absconding. Officers said special teams were trying to trace and arrest them.

The investigation took place under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch. Sridhar, IPS, along with senior officers of the Malkajgiri Commissionerate. Detective Inspector K. Veerababu, Detective Sub-Inspector K. Chandra Shekar and the Alwal Police team detected the case.

Police advised the public not to pay money to anyone promising Government benefits, including 2-BHK houses, jobs, land allotments or welfare schemes. They urged citizens to verify such claims with the concerned Government department and report suspicious activity to the nearest police station or by dialling 100 or 112.
