Ranga Reddy Collector stresses transparent voter list revision

Hyderabad: Ranga Reddy District Collector C. Narayana Reddy on Wednesday stressed that the district administration and political parties must work together to prepare an error-free and transparent voter list.

The Collector chaired a review meeting with representatives of political parties at the Collectorate regarding the Special Intensive Revision process of electoral rolls.

He said the district administration was conducting the voter list revision exercise transparently and responsibly in accordance with Election Commission guidelines. He also urged political parties to conduct field visits and appoint Booth Level Agents immediately.

Voter list revision to include door-to-door verification

The Collector said Booth Level Officers would receive full-scale training from June 15. He added that BLOs would conduct comprehensive door-to-door verification during the revision process.

According to the Collector, BLOs play a key role in new voter registration and voter list purification. He said officials would remove names of deceased voters, identify migrated voters and ensure inclusion of all eligible new voters.

The Collector urged all youth turning 18 years old by October 1, 2026, to register through Form-6. He also advised voters to use Form-8 for corrections, additions and modifications in electoral rolls.

Voter list revision issues raised by political parties

Representatives of recognised political parties requested the administration to establish polling stations in high-rise residential buildings where voters currently travel long distances to cast votes.

They also demanded removal of duplicate and deceased voters ahead of upcoming GHMC elections. In addition, party representatives urged officials to fill vacant BLO posts immediately and verify houses where more than 50 voters were registered under a single house number.

Political parties further requested copies of the SIR-2002 voter list and proper training for BLOs, BLO supervisors and Booth Level Agents before the revision process begins.

The Collector assured representatives that officials would examine all suggestions according to Election Commission guidelines. He also said the administration would take corrective steps to remove duplicate voters and strengthen transparency in the data entry process.

Officials informed the meeting that details of polling stations, BLOs and BLO supervisors in GHMC areas would be shared with political parties after verification by Electoral Registration Officers.

Several BJP and BRS representatives, district revenue officials, RDOs and election staff attended the meeting.
