Revanth to meet Congress workers every 10 days, focuses on SIR drive

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said he would meet Congress workers every 10 days. He also said he would dedicate three days every month to interact with grassroots party cadres.

Addressing the Congress State Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Revanth Reddy called on leaders to work actively for the party. He said strengthening the organisation should be a priority.

He directed ministers in charge of districts to visit their respective districts once every 10 days. They should devote an entire day to party activities.

Additionally, he asked ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs to spend one day every week in their constituencies. He also directed corporation chairpersons and senior leaders to regularly interact with party workers.

The Chief Minister said the PCC president would decide the deployment of leaders, including himself, for organisational activities across the state.

Revanth Reddy praised Congress workers who functioned as social media warriors when the party was in the opposition.

However, he expressed concern over the approach of some legislators. He said they were focusing more on personal publicity than on promoting party and government programmes.

He also suggested training programmes for MLAs on the effective use of social media for party outreach.

Congress workers key to SIR campaign

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister asked party leaders to work in coordination on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

He said leaders must remain active at the grassroots level. This would help party workers function effectively at polling booth level.

He proposed assigning constituency responsibilities in Hyderabad to Rajya Sabha members and MLCs.

Furthermore, he called for constituency-wise meetings on the SIR process. He said all 15 Assembly segments in Greater Hyderabad should hold such meetings.

Revanth Reddy said leaders had correctly identified concerns over possible voter deletions. He said the issue required close monitoring during the SIR exercise.

He warned that Lambadas, tribal communities, migrant workers, Dalits, minorities and women could face difficulties if adequate awareness was not created.

The Chief Minister urged party leaders to develop a thorough understanding of the issue. He asked them to help affected voters whenever required.

He also suggested involving individuals who played a key role in previous digital membership drives in the ongoing SIR campaign.

Additionally, he called for the appointment of in-charges to monitor SIR activities. The exercise will cover all 119 Assembly constituencies and 17 Lok Sabha segments.

According to party sources, Revanth Reddy questioned leaders over the pace of organisational strengthening in Greater Hyderabad. He also sought an explanation for delays in appointing polling booth agents.
