Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy warned Congress leaders of strict action if they failed to follow party instructions on SIR campaign implementation, saying negligence on the issue would not be tolerated.
Addressing a Zoom meeting on the SIR campaign, the Chief Minister described the matter as a serious issue and asked ministers, MLAs, MPs and constituency in-charges to remain more vigilant. He said some leaders were not giving adequate attention to the campaign and cautioned that the party would not remain silent if such negligence harmed its interests.
Revanth Reddy said he had district-wise reports on awareness programmes conducted by the party and called for more outreach activities across Telangana. He directed in-charge ministers to take greater responsibility in ensuring the campaign reached people effectively.
SIR campaign implementation under close monitoring
The Chief Minister said improper handling of the SIR campaign implementation could adversely affect poor people. He stated that if eligible voters lost their names from electoral records, it could lead to difficulties linked to Aadhaar cards, ration cards and access to welfare benefits.
He stressed that all party members must follow organisational directives. Revanth Reddy warned that leaders who ignored party instructions on the campaign could be replaced by new in-charges. He said those displaying negligence would not be excused and added that the party would review performance over the next 10 days.
The Chief Minister also instructed party representatives, including sarpanches, to conduct awareness programmes in villages and educate people about the importance of the SIR campaign.
