Hyderabad: The Congress extended its full support to the Telangana RTC Workers Union (TWU) for the TGSRTC recognised union elections scheduled for October 9.
TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud announced the support for TWU ahead of the union polls. He directed party leaders to coordinate with the Congress-affiliated union at RTC depots across Telangana.
Goud asked Congress MLAs, District Committee presidents and City Committee presidents to support the TWU. He also instructed party functionaries to cooperate with the union in their respective constituencies.
Moreover, Goud asked party leaders not to encourage other unions during the run-up to the October 9 elections.
Congress support for TWU gets election coordinator
As part of preparations for the polls, Goud appointed TPCC vice-president Bonthu Rammohan as the party’s election coordinator. Rammohan previously served as the Mayor of Greater Hyderabad.
The appointment was intended to strengthen coordination for the recognised union elections. Goud asked Congress cadres and RTC workers to work together under Rammohan’s leadership.
He also called on them to campaign for the TWU in the October 9 elections. The support for TWU included coordination between party functionaries and union workers across RTC depots in the state.
