Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy backed Rahul Gandhi for PM and said making him Prime Minister was his remaining political goal. Speaking in Kerala on September 25, Reddy framed the country’s political contest as a fight between the Gandhi Parivar and Sangh Parivar. He urged Congress workers to unite behind the Gandhi family.
Reddy said the Gandhi Parivar represented sacrifice. He referred to Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi while making the argument.
He said Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had sacrificed political posts, power and positions. In contrast, he accused the Sangh Parivar of dividing India along religious, caste, regional and linguistic lines.
Reddy also accused the BJP of acting against freedom, secularism and the Constitution. He called on Congress workers to protect democracy, secularism, freedom and constitutional values.
The Chief Minister made the remarks while receiving an award instituted in memory of veteran Congress leader Aryadan Muhammed. Reddy said he was the first person from outside Kerala selected for the award.
Congress leader K.C. Venugopal presented the award. Reddy thanked the jury and said he accepted the honour as a Congress worker and member of Rahul Gandhi’s team. Reddy recalled that Aryadan Muhammed had served as an MLA eight times. He said the Congress leader had also served four terms as a minister under different chief ministers.
Aryadan had served the Congress for more than five decades, Reddy said. He also described him as an influential party leader in Nilambur and Kerala. Reddy said Aryadan was born in 1935, before India’s Independence. He said the late leader had fought for freedom, democracy, secularism and the Constitution.

Reddy said Kerala was close to his heart and recalled his previous visits to the state. He had participated in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and campaigned during Assembly elections.
He thanked Kerala for supporting the Congress and secularism. Reddy also referred to Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi being elected to Parliament from the state.
Using the monsoon as an analogy, Reddy described Kerala as a political bellwether. He said weather experts watched Kerala because the monsoon entered India through the state. Reddy then drew parallels between Kerala election results and changes in governments at the Centre.
He cited 1991, when K. Karunakaran was Kerala Chief Minister and P.V. Narasimha Rao became Prime Minister. He also referred to the Congress losing power nationally after the Communists won Kerala in 1996.
Reddy said A.K. Antony became Kerala Chief Minister in 2001 before the Congress returned to power nationally in 2004. He also referred to Pinarayi Vijayan’s tenure in Kerala and Narendra Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister from 2014. Reddy used these examples to support his description of Kerala as a bellwether.
He said a new political wind had emerged after the Congress won Kerala in 2026. He called on party workers to carry that momentum across India.
Revanth states Rahul Gandhi for PM as his political goal
Reddy said he had no personal political ambition remaining after holding several elected and party positions. He said he began at the grassroots in 2006. Since then, he had served as ZPTC member, MLC, MLA, MP, PCC president and Chief Minister.
“My only dream left is to make Rahul Gandhi the prime Minister of India,” Reddy said. He said he wanted a Congress-led government at the Centre with Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister. He urged party workers to take their campaign to every village, city and state.
Reddy also alleged theft involving votes, parties, symbols and political funds. He claimed such actions threatened the future of young people and the integrity of voting. He again called for Rahul Gandhi for PM and urged Congress workers to campaign across the country. He said the party should unite against forces he described as communal.
