Ponguleti reviews future-ready Urban Indiramma housing plans

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is preparing Urban Indiramma housing projects to provide comfortable, secure and future-ready homes for poor families in urban areas. Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Urban Indiramma housing programme would focus on better amenities and long-term sustainability.

The minister said the government was formulating the housing initiative in line with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of ensuring dignified living conditions without disrupting the livelihoods of urban poor families.

Ponguleti reviewed the project with senior officials on Friday after the State Cabinet approved the construction of one lakh houses in the first phase across 24 constituencies under the CURE limits.

Urban Indiramma housing designs focus on future-ready living

During the review, the minister examined multiple Urban Indiramma housing design models and suggested several modifications.

He directed officials to plan the projects by considering requirements for the next 40 to 50 years. Moreover, he asked them to focus on drainage systems, parking facilities, commercial spaces and changing lifestyle needs.

Ponguleti also instructed officials to prepare plans for buildings of up to 10 floors wherever local conditions permit. Additionally, he said the designs should accommodate future generations and evolving urban requirements.

The minister stressed the need to incorporate Vaastu considerations while designing halls, bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms. He said every design should help poor families live with comfort and self-respect.

Furthermore, he asked officials to create provisions for parking areas and commercial shops within the housing layouts. According to him, these facilities would improve convenience and support residents’ livelihoods.

Meanwhile, Ponguleti directed authorities to treat each constituency as a separate unit and provide houses within the same constituency. As a result, beneficiaries would remain close to their workplaces and existing social networks.

He also instructed officials to finalise the designs after discussions with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and prepare a daily action plan to begin construction on a war footing.

The minister said the government aims to provide housing security to every eligible poor family in urban areas. He added that Telangana would develop an Urban Indiramma housing model that could serve as an example for the rest of the country.
