Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao reviewed EV charging infrastructure and directed officials to accelerate expansion across Telangana.
He held a meeting at the Secretariat with senior officials from multiple departments. The discussion, meanwhile, focused on scaling up charging facilities to support electric mobility.
The Chief Secretary stressed the need to boost electric vehicle adoption. He said a strong charging network will build user confidence and meet rising demand.
EV charging infrastructure plan includes real-time monitoring system
Accordingly, Ramakrishna Rao asked officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for EV charging infrastructure. He also urged them to involve both government and private players in the process.
Moreover, he emphasised coordinated efforts to create a seamless ecosystem. The plan aims to ensure accessibility, reliability and efficiency in both urban and rural areas.
In addition, he directed officials to develop a centralised, real-time dashboard. This system will help map, monitor and track the progress of charging stations across the state.
Meanwhile, Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal said the department is drafting a policy. The proposal mandates EV charging points in apartment basements.
Further, officials said this move will support home charging and encourage wider EV adoption in cities.
Transport Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Planning Secretary Gaurav Uppal, TGRTC MD Nagireddy, Transport Commissioner Ilambarithi, TGIIC MD Shashanka, GHMC Commissioner Karnan and TGREDCO MD Anila Vavilla attended the meeting.
