Hyderabad: The Telangana government constituted a Cabinet Sub-Committee to examine the Rohith Vemula Bill and recommend measures for framing the law.
The panel will study provisions of the Rohith Vemula Telangana (Prevention of Identity-Based Discrimination in Higher Education) Bill, 2026. The government issued orders through Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu will chair the committee. Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar will serve as members.
Rohith Vemula Bill panel to review provisions and suggest a framework
The Special Chief Secretary to the Scheduled Caste Development Department will act as the convener. The panel will examine legal and administrative aspects of the proposed legislation.
Accordingly, the government tasked the committee with suggesting a suitable framework. It also directed the panel to submit its recommendations at the earliest.
