Kavitha slams BJP over Women’s Reservation Bill defeat

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha criticised the BJP over the failure of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha.

Kavitha released a video statement and accused the BJP of misleading the public. She alleged that the party introduced the Bill despite knowing it would not pass.

She said the BJP linked the Bill with delimitation, anticipating opposition resistance. According to her, this move ensured the Bill’s defeat.

Kavitha said the government lacked the required numbers but still rushed the Bill. Moreover, she accused the BJP of using women’s sentiments for political gain.

She alleged that the party attempted to derive electoral benefit from the issue. In addition, she claimed the development exposed the BJP’s lack of commitment to women’s empowerment.

Kavitha urged women to recognise what she termed as political deception. She called on them to respond politically to such actions.

Referring to West Bengal, she said the BJP’s political decline should begin there. She also appealed to voters to support Mamata Banerjee.

Kavitha said women in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh should take note of the developments. She added that the incident reflected the BJP’s political strategy on the Women’s Reservation Bill.
