Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for Labour, Employment, Training & Factories and Mines Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy urged the Centre to expedite the Tadicherla-II project. He also sought 1,000 jobs for local youth. In addition, he requested a minimum monthly pension of ₹10,000 for retired Singareni workers during meetings with Union Ministers in New Delhi.
Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna accompanied the Minister. Together, they submitted memoranda seeking Central support for employment generation, skill development, mining expansion, infrastructure development and labour welfare in Telangana.
The delegation first met Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. It sought stronger Central support for labour welfare programmes. The leaders also requested measures to create more jobs and improve the implementation of Central schemes in Telangana.
Later, the delegation met Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary. They discussed advanced skill training for youth. They also proposed Advanced Technology Centres and expansion of industry-oriented training programmes.
Tadicherla-II project among key demands
The delegation then met Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy. It urged the Centre to complete the Tadicherla-II project without further delay. The leaders requested at least 1,000 jobs for local youth. They sought priority for residents of project-affected villages. They also requested comprehensive rehabilitation and resettlement measures for displaced families.
Meanwhile, the Minister and the MP urged the Centre to ensure a minimum monthly pension of ₹10,000 for retired employees of Singareni Collieries Company Limited. They said thousands of retired workers faced financial hardship because of inadequate pensions. Furthermore, they sought support for expanding Singareni operations, opening new coal mines and improving infrastructure in mining-affected areas.
The Union Ministers assured the delegation that the proposals would receive positive consideration. Accordingly, they said the demands relating to the Tadicherla-II project, local employment, rehabilitation measures and pension enhancement would be examined by the concerned departments.
Finally, Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said the Telangana Government would continue working with the Union Government. He said both governments would promote development, expand employment opportunities, strengthen labour welfare and accelerate the growth of the mining sector.
