Telangana railway projects: Congress MPs seek faster execution

Hyderabad: Congress MPs from Telangana on Wednesday urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to expedite Telangana railway projects and address delays in key infrastructure works.

MPs Gaddam Vamsi Krishna, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Mallu Ravi and Suresh Shetkar met Vaishnaw in New Delhi. They discussed railway infrastructure, pending projects and essential passenger facilities in Telangana.

During the meeting, Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna focused on the proposed Ramagundam-Manuguru railway line. The project carried an estimated investment of about Rs 4,000 crore.

Vamsi Krishna sought details about the project’s current status, progress and future course of action. Moreover, he urged the Railway Minister to accelerate the works and ensure visible progress on the ground.

Vamsi Krishna said the Ramagundam-Manuguru railway line was crucial for his parliamentary constituency. He highlighted its importance for industrial, commercial and transport development.

According to the MP, the project would benefit the Ramagundam, Peddapalli and Mancherial regions. Therefore, he sought faster implementation of the proposed railway link. Vaishnaw responded positively to the request, according to the information provided. He informed the MPs that work on the Ramagundam-Manuguru railway line was progressing rapidly.

Meanwhile, Vamsi Krishna also raised delays involving sanctioned Road Over Bridges and Foot Over Bridges in the Peddapalli parliamentary constituency. He specifically highlighted delays in the release of funds and execution of the works. The MP said the projects remained delayed despite continuous follow-ups over the past two years.

Telangana railway projects face ROB, FOB delays

Vamsi Krishna also drew attention to waterlogging at construction sites. He said the problem caused inconvenience and posed risks to the public. Consequently, the MP sought immediate steps to speed up the pending works and address problems at the construction locations.

The discussions on Telangana railway projects also covered the proposed upgradation of railway stations. Vamsi Krishna took up improvements at Peddapalli, Ramagundam and Mancherial stations with Railway officials.

He said he had continuously coordinated with the Union Railway Ministry over infrastructure requirements in Peddapalli and Mancherial districts. Furthermore, the MP said his efforts focused on accelerating pending projects and improving transport facilities for the public.

Vamsi Krishna said he would continue raising the constituency’s railway development requirements with the Centre. These included the Ramagundam-Manuguru line, ROBs, FOBs and railway station upgrades. He also said he would continue pressing the Union government for faster progress on the projects.
