Indonesian delegation studies Telangana agriculture initiatives

Hyderabad: An Indonesian delegation visited the Telangana Agriculture Department headquarters in Hyderabad on Thursday to study the state’s initiatives on food security, agricultural self-reliance and sustainable farming.

The four-member delegation met Agriculture Director Dr B. Gopi, IAS, during its visit to review Telangana’s farmer-centric programmes and technology-driven agricultural practices.

Agriculture Department officials gave a detailed presentation on the state’s agricultural growth, welfare programmes for farmers and the adoption of modern farming technologies. Officials from the Horticulture Department also explained the government’s initiatives to expand oil palm cultivation.

Meanwhile, Telangana State Seed Development Corporation (TSSDC) officials outlined measures to produce and distribute quality seeds. Telangana State Seed and Organic Certification Authority (TSSOCA) officials also briefed the delegation on seed certification and quality control systems.

The officials highlighted several flagship programmes, including Rythu Bharosa, Rythu Bima, natural farming, soil health management, farm mechanisation, agricultural drones, the National Food Security Mission, pulse development, oilseed promotion, Digital Crop Survey, Agri Stack (Farmer Registry), the Urea Booking App, the Online Licence Management System (OLMS), Rythu Vedikas and the Rythu Nestham video conference platform.

Furthermore, the Indonesian delegation appreciated Telangana’s transparent, farmer-focused and technology-driven agricultural initiatives. The members also praised schemes such as Rythu Bharosa, Rythu Bima, the Urea Booking App and natural farming practices.

Both sides discussed agricultural research, technology transfer, food security, farmer capacity building and sustainable agricultural development during the meeting.

The delegation included Prof. Junaidi Khotib, Secretary to the Directorate General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Indonesia; Dr. Pungki Dharma Saputra of the Indonesia Defense University; Masjita from the Indonesian State Secretariat; and Prof. Fuad, Education and Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of Indonesia in New Delhi.

Senior officials from the Telangana Agriculture Department, the Horticulture Department, Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, Telangana State Seed Development Corporation and Telangana State Seed and Organic Certification Authority also attended the meeting.
