Hyderabad: Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Dr Soumya Mishra, IPS, inaugurated newly constructed Telangana Prisons training facilities on Thursday. The new infrastructure aims to strengthen professional training and capacity building for prison personnel.
The facilities include the newly constructed Thriveni Dining Hall, which can accommodate 200 people. It will provide dining facilities for trainees and staff attending various training programmes.
The department also inaugurated two new classrooms named Bhagirathi and Alakananda. Each classroom can accommodate 75 trainees, providing a combined capacity of 150 people at a time.
Telangana Prisons training facilities get modern classrooms
The two classrooms feature projectors and screens to support technology-enabled training. They also have furnished tables and chairs to provide a comfortable learning environment. The department said the infrastructure would support interactive training programmes for prison personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, Soumya Mishra stressed the importance of continuous training and skill enhancement. She also highlighted professional development as an important factor in improving the functioning of correctional institutions.
Modern infrastructure and technology-enabled facilities would contribute to effective learning, she said. Moreover, such facilities would help personnel prepare better for their responsibilities.
New infrastructure to support capacity building
The Telangana Prisons training facilities will support refresher courses and capacity-building programmes. The department also plans to use them for various professional development activities.
Officials expect the new infrastructure to help conduct training programmes in a more systematic and effective manner. IG Prisons N. Murali Babu attended the inauguration. DIG Prisons Dr D. Srinivas and DIG Prisons M. Sampath were also present.
Other attendees included SP Jails N. Shivakumar Goud, SPW Hyderabad Superintendent T. Laxmi Srinath and SICA Principal S. Srinivasa Reddy. DSP Jails Y. Ramaiah and other officers and staff also participated.
