Officials said the teams will focus on prevention, detection, raids, seizures, investigation, and prosecution of drug-related offences. Meanwhile, authorities reiterated a strict zero-tolerance policy.
Existing teams handled several cases across Hyderabad and other states. In addition, the expanded wing will generate actionable intelligence to track suppliers, peddlers, and consumers.
Police will conduct coordinated raids and maintain updated databases on drug networks. Further, teams will ensure swift prosecution through inter-departmental coordination.
Officials said the initiative aims to protect youth and curb drug abuse. Therefore, they stressed collective responsibility in tackling narcotics-related crimes.
Police warned they will take strict legal action against all individuals involved in drug trafficking and related activities.
