Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao joined protesting RTC employees at Musheerabad and backed the ongoing RTC strike, criticising the government’s handling of workers’ issues.
He visited the strike camp and interacted with workers staging protests. Meanwhile, he said the party stands firmly with employees seeking resolution of their demands.
Ramchander Rao alleged that the Congress government adopted an indifferent and rigid approach towards RTC employees. Accordingly, he said this approach forced workers to intensify their agitation.
RTC strike support grows as BJP backs workers’ demands
He said BJP Telangana will continue to extend RTC strike support and stand by workers. In addition, he said the party will continue its fight until workers achieve their demands.
Referring to the death of driver Shankar Goud, he expressed grief and conveyed condolences to the family. Further, he said earlier suicide attempts by workers highlight the seriousness of the situation.
He alleged that the government ignored notices that employees issued well in advance. Therefore, he held the government responsible for the current developments.
Ramchander Rao demanded immediate ex-gratia for Shankar Goud’s family. Moreover, he urged the government to invite workers for talks and resolve their issues without delay.
He said BJP will continue its support to the RTC strike support movement until workers achieve their demands.
