Hyderabad: BRS Vice President KTR said on Monday that Artificial Intelligence (AI) should serve humanity as a resource and a tool. He said people should not treat it as something to fear. He added that BRS will integrate AI into all government departments and systems once the party returns to power.
KTR spoke at the launch of the Campus Hub AI product at the Sheraton Hotel in Nanakramguda. He praised the four youths from rural areas who came together to create the product and called them role models for society. He appreciated their goal of becoming job creators rather than job seekers.
He urged young people to dream big and come up with new ideas. He also advised them to treat failures as experiences, learn from them and work towards their goals.
KTR said Telangana gave great importance to the IT sector in the past. He said the world is now entering the era of AI, and people must change with the technology. He asked that AI serve as a tool to solve people’s problems, not just as a technological advance. He said people should use AI only where necessary and should not misuse it. He also stressed the need for re-skilling and up-skilling along with learning new things.
KTR recalled that the BRS government gave priority to AI. He said 2020 was declared the ‘Year of AI’, with the focus on using artificial intelligence in agriculture. He said the government worked to bring technology closer to farmers through the ‘AI for Agriculture Innovation’ and ‘Sagu Bagu’ programmes in Veernapally in the Sircilla region. As an example, he explained how a farmer can get advice on pests and their prevention by sending a photo of crop leaves through a mobile phone.
He said AI will play a key role in the education system. According to him, every student has different learning abilities and needs, and AI can provide personalised teaching to match them. He welcomed the launch of products that offer technological solutions to problems faced by school management, teachers, students and parents. He wished success to other products, including Campus Hub AI.
IT companies in smaller towns
KTR said IT industries should not remain limited to Hyderabad. He hoped that IT companies would expand to Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Adilabad. He congratulated Rakesh for setting up the DG Yodha organisation in Parakala, which gives jobs to about 267 people locally.
He also cited youth who have set up IT companies in the Bellampalli and Karimnagar areas and created jobs. He said perseverance and proper planning can help IT industries grow even in small towns.
KTR said BRS will definitely come to power after two years. He said the party will give first priority to AI in all sectors, including agriculture, medicine and education. He said steps will be taken to expand the IT sector across Telangana.
He said AI will change the way people think, work, learn and live in the coming years. He noted that driverless vehicles are already becoming available. He said technology has developed greatly from landline phones to smartphones, and AI will play a key role in the period ahead.
