Hyderabad: Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy called for a permanent RTC strike solution and urged the government to resolve the issue at the earliest.
He addressed a press conference at his camp office on Friday. Meanwhile, he said RTC strikes have occurred during previous governments and continue even now.
He said lakhs of families depend on RTC employees for their livelihood. Therefore, he stressed that the government must recognise their concerns and act responsibly.
RTC strike solution requires dialogue and balanced approach
Gutha Sukender Reddy said both ruling and opposition parties share responsibility in resolving public issues. Further, he said confrontation will not help and urged a constructive approach.
He also spoke about procurement, stating that the state set up over 4,500 paddy purchase centres. In addition, he said authorities procured more than 4.26 lakh metric tonnes of grain.
He said seed shortages lead to quality issues in produce. Moreover, he advised the government to implement either Rythu Bharosa or bonus schemes in procurement, instead of both.
He urged farmers to diversify into commercial crops due to grain shortages. Meanwhile, he said the state must recognise current economic constraints.
He pointed out that dues to retired employees remain pending for a long time. Therefore, he welcomed the Chief Minister’s proposal for public representatives to contribute up to 50% of their salaries to clear dues.
He added that reducing salaries of representatives could help address financial challenges.
