Bhadradri Kothagudem: Incessant rains under the impact of Cyclone Murasu are lashing Mulakalapalli mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The heavy rains have fallen since Tuesday night and have made streams and canals overflow. Floodwater has covered the main roads, and crop fields in low-lying areas are under water.
The Pamuleru stream is flowing violently near Satyampet village on the main road from Palvancha to Annapureddypalli via Madaram. Floodwater overflows from the bridge, and traffic on this route has come to a standstill.
On the main road from Palvancha to Dammapeta, floodwater has washed away the temporary approach beside the recently collapsed bridge over the Pamuleru stream. The bridge stands on the outskirts of Rajupeta. Vehicles cannot move on either route, and passengers and motorists face severe difficulties.
Crops submerged in low-lying areas due to Cyclone Murasu
Crops such as rice, chilli and peanuts, grown in the low-lying areas of the mandal, are going under water. Farmers who already faced difficulties because of the rains express concern that the fresh downpour is likely to cause further damage. They fear the crops may be completely damaged if the rains continue like this.
