Medak: A 65-year-old farmer died in a road accident in Medak district after an unidentified car hit him. Tirupati Kishan, a resident of Aurangabad in Haveli Ghanpur mandal, was going to his field when the accident happened. The car driver drove away from the spot.
Kishan had completed the paddy harvest in his field and was preparing to sell the grain. The vicinity of his village had no government IKP paddy purchase centre. He therefore had to rely on private traders and brokers.
Kishan left home at 10.45 pm on 3 November to go to the field. While he was crossing the road near the Panchamukhi Hanuman Temple at Aurangabad Gate, an unidentified car speeding from behind hit him. Locals took the seriously injured farmer to the government hospital in an ambulance, but he could not be saved.
Family alleges no duty doctor at government hospital
Family members and locals allege that the duty doctor was not available at the government hospital. They also allege that the hospital had no basic electricity facility, which made it difficult to provide medical services. They fear that timely treatment could have saved Kishan. His wife and three sons survive him.
The family members demand that police identify the car from CCTV footage and take action against the driver. They also want higher authorities to inquire into the absence of a duty doctor and the lack of electricity at the hospital. They appeal to the government to give financial compensation to the family and to set up an IKP paddy purchase centre for farmers in Aurangabad, Haveli and surrounding villages.
