Hyderabad: A suspended CISF constable was arrested in Hyderabad after police allegedly found 158 kg of dry ganja worth ₹79 lakh in his possession during a special operation in SR Nagar.
The suspended CISF constable was identified as Panagudu Shiva Krishna, a native of Mothugudem village in Alluri Sitharama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh. He was currently residing in Kerala.
The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force and SR Nagar police apprehended him near Nature Cure Hospital on Monday night. During the operation, police seized the ganja, a car and three mobile phones.
According to investigators, the accused was allegedly involved in supplying ganja to interstate drug peddlers operating in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Suspended CISF constable linked to interstate network
Police said the accused had previously been arrested in a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 2025.
Following that arrest, he was suspended from service, officials said.
Investigators suspect that the accused continued to play a role in narcotics trafficking despite facing legal action earlier.
Officials said preliminary inquiries indicated links with interstate drug distribution networks. However, further details would emerge only after a comprehensive investigation.
The seized contraband has been taken into custody and additional evidence is being examined by investigators.
Suspended CISF constable case under investigation
Police said efforts were underway to identify and trace other individuals connected to the alleged trafficking network.
The raid was carried out by personnel of the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force led by Inspector Ch. Yadendar and Sub-Inspector D. Ravi Raj in coordination with SR Nagar police.
Officials stated that a detailed investigation was continuing to uncover the full extent of the operation and establish the involvement of other suspects.
The police also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and share information about suspected drug-related activities.
According to officials, public cooperation remains essential in ongoing efforts to curb narcotics trafficking and make Hyderabad a drug-free city.
